Question
Please forgive my technical illiteracy here...
Having virtually no Linux knowledge, I used the Debian/VM method (documented on
TWikiVMDebianStable) to get TWiki up and running on a server on my company's (all-Windows) network.
Works beautifully. Thank you. But now I have a problem with user passwords. Specifically, when I use the "ResetPassword" page - the password resets, but TWiki can't send mail to tell the user what their new password is.
I followed the steps described to enable the MTA, and that now works - I can send test e-mails from the VM through our SMTP server. But when I click the "Reset Password" button in TWiki, I get an /oops page with a long list of errors, beginning with:
ERROR
Can't send mail using Net::SMTP. Can't connect to [my mailhost] at /usr/share/perl/5.8/CGI/Carp.pm line 314.
Can anyone help me to figure out what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
Environment

Answer
If you answer a question - or someone answered one of your questions - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status selector is below the edit box.
Okay, problem solved. Turned out that my network administrator had changed the mail settings in the VM without telling me. So the VM and the TWiki config weren't looking for the same mail server. Which explains why one worked and the other didn't.
Sorry to have bothered you.

I am having a problem with MTA when I try to follow the same instructions you did. Can you offer me any suggestions. When I try to reconfigure MTA, I send the test email, but I never receive it.
