SID-00041: Incomplete User Registration

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 4.2.4 Perl version: 5.8.8
Category: CategoryAuthentication Server OS: Ubuntu 8.04 Last update: 17 years ago

Hi - I must not have completed my first user registration. My email server info had not been entered at the time. Now I have a user name that I cannot reset a password for and get a message that the name is missing in the password system. Can I add the name to \var\www\twiki\data\.htpasswd and be allowed to reset the password? Can I remove the user and reregister some other way? It is a user name that I will need after upgrading. Thanks. I am using template login Thanks Scott

Discussion and Answer

To remove a (partially crated) user do this:

  • Remove data/Main/JimmyNeutron.txt*
  • Remove JimmyNeutron entry in .htpasswd
  • Using browser, edit Main.TWikiUsers page and remove JimmyNeutron bullet.

Alternatively, add the user to .htpasswd, with encrypted pwd of another user and proper e-mail address, then reset the password.
