We're trying to migrate our 2001 rev of TWiki to 4.2.4. It mostly works but there are a few rough spots. The one in this topic is to do with the incorrect rendering of the Wikiname of a topic author within the topic itself. It displays OK outside of the topic
This issue is because our webserver is doing authentication and a Twiki user name of (eg) "SomeUser" should be mapped to an (external) OS username of the form "OURDOMAIN\someu". Outside of the topic (eg in the CHANGES list) the translation is performed correctly and the Wikiname is displayed. Inside the topic though, the author is displayed as (eg) Main.OURDOMAIN_5csomeu.
It looks like the external username is stored as metadata in the topic, with the backslash represented by the character sequence "_5c". I'm guessing the _5c is not being translated back to a backslash somewhere causing the mapping back to the Wikiname to fail.
Can someone point me to where to go to fix this - a lot has changed since I last looked at TWiki internals!
