SID-00614: How can I access the number of search hits?

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 4.3.0 Perl version: 5.010000
Category: CategorySearch Server OS: Windows Server 2003 Last update: 16 years ago

I'm looking for a way to access the number of search hits of a given search.

I want to make a statement like:

70% of all topics are having the status "Red", 30% are having the status "Green".

For this i need the total numbers of search results.

Thank you in advance!

Discussion and Answer

Use a SEARCH with CALC in the format. Here is an example that shows the status of the last 100 support questions:

Recently there are 30% Asked, 0% Assigned, 67% Answered, 3% Unanswered support questions.

View the raw text of this page to see how this works. You need to escape the % of the CALC in the SEARCH format with $percnt, otherwise it would execute just once before the search, not once per search hit.

See details in VarSEARCH, FormattedSearch, SpreadSheetPlugin.
