SID-00839: TWiki installation configure user error

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.0.0 Perl version: Not sure
Category: CategoryInstallation Server OS: Linux Last update: 15 years ago

Hi

I'm am installing a SECOND TWiki site on the same host. The first TWiki installation is 4.2.4. It works 100%.

The second installation is done in a different folder. The second installation is suppose to run 4.3.2. I uploaded, extracted and did the rest of the listed steps. But when I run configure from the address bar it asks for a username and password. As i mentioned earlier, this is a clean install, so there is not supposed to be a user and password.

When I say cancel, it directs me to the TWiki registration page, but this does not work. It might be that the site is not configured and it is therefore not working, or it might be part of the configurater problem.

My question: does this problem have something to do with the fact that this is the second installation on the same host, or is it another problem?

I've tried most of the solutions listed in the support pages, but non of them works.

In advance, thanks for the help and for taking the time to read this.

Discussion and Answer

I've found a temporary solution.

By adding my current IP to the .htaccess file in the twiki/bin directory I can run the configure script. I got the second site up and running.

But everytime I want to run the configure script I have to add my ip to the .htaccess file. This is very cumbersome as I log in with a 3G card, which IP changes everytime I connect.

Is there a easier why to fix this. I read and tried most of the solutions, especially the ones listed in ConfigureAuthentication.

And there is another thing - I am struggling a lot more with the installation of the second of this site which is using TWiki ver 4.3.2. My other site, running from the same host is using TWiki ver 4.2.4, and that installation was a lot easier. It even renders the page easier. Is it more difficult because of changes made to 4.3.2, or because it is the second twiki site on the same host?

In advance, thanks for the help, and reading this.

Kind Regards Henro Ritchie

There is no difference in auth/password management between 4.2 and 4.3. It looks like some configuration particularities on your second install. You can use the ApacheConfigGenerator to generate the Apache config file for twiki.

Hi Peter

Thanks for the info, but it unfortunately doesn't help. I am on a hosting site and therefore I cannot edit the httpd.conf file. I need to edit the .htaccess files, but I do not know how to add my PC/username in htaccess file to enable me to run confiure.

Hi

And I have another problem with this installation. The page, skin doesn't render correctly. For example the left menu bar sits at the bottom of the page, and non of the images and graphics load.

Is this related to the already mentioned problem? Or is it related to the fact that this is the second installation on the same host?

I read something about the speedycgi and 2 TWiki's on the same host. I will look into that.

As always,

may thanks and regards!!

I haven't made any progress regarding the stated issues.

Is there anybody with a bit of advise?

Kind Regards Henro Ritchie

No images and incorrect screen layout is an indication that the {PubUrlPath} configure setting is not set properly. Right click on a broken image to see where it points to.

I narrowed the problem to the .htaccess file. If I rename the .htaccess to some arbitrary name the page seems to render correctly, but then I leave the pub directory open.

Any idea?

Is this related to the PhpFlagEngineOffBreaksRendering problem?

I found the problem - if I only read the .htaccess file correctly.
