SID-00903: Migrate users' LeftBar to TopMenu

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.0.0 Perl version: 5.10.0
Category: TopMenuSkin Server OS: Debian Linux 5.0.5 Last update: 12 years ago

We've just upgrade from 4.3.1 to 5.0.0 and so now have the new TopMenuSkin in place. A lot of our users had customised LeftBar menus under 4.3.1. Is there a facility to migrate those PER-USER menus to TopMenu? If not, what's the recommendation for user-defined shortcuts now?

Thanks.

Discussion and Answer

They are included automatically in the TopMenuSkin. Look at the "my links" items in the Account pulldown menu. Only proper bullets in the FirstLastnameWebLeftBar are included, and bullets must have exactly one link (not two links, and no unlinked text next to the link).

  • UPDATE 2013-03-13: This was the case only in the beginning of the TopMenuSkin. The Account pulldown now shows bookmarks defined in FirstLastnameBookmarks. Add new bookmark items using the "Bookmark this page..." link in the Account pulldown -- Peter Thoeny - 2013-03-13

I'll update the docs accordingly.

Thanks Peter - but we don't seem to have an "Account" pulldown, and no 'my links' on any other pulldown. Come to that, this page doesn't have an 'Account' pulldown either.

Do we need to turn that on somewhere?

Thanks, Keith

The Account pulldown is in the upper right hand corner, also here on twiki.org. May be your browser window is not wide enough?

-- PeterThoeny - 2010-07-16

Thank you again, Peter. No, not too narrow a window; simply that the "Account" link doesn't show up in Opera (v10.11). No idea why; I can see it in Firefox. Not sure if this is a browser issue or a TWiki issue.

I've reopened this question, but if you think this is simply a browser problem then I'm happy for you to set this to "Answered".

I'd appreciate if you could debug the issue, ideally provide a patch that makes the top menu work on Opera.

I filed TWikibug:Item6524 to track this item.
