Hello! I have installed the VM version of twiki and I used the tutorial to upgrade to 4.3.1 (awesome). So I was curious and wanted to upgrade to the new 5.0. Well, once I replaced the files the site works, but I can't login! When I enter my information it takes me back to my homepage and I'm not logged in. I tried to replace .htaccess and other password files with my previous version and it still doesn't work. Just wondering if anyone (possibly developers) would understand what my problem was?

Discussion and Answer
Did you do a clean upgrade? E.g. replace the whole twiki directory with the 5.0 tarball content? I recommend to remove the
twiki/lib/LocalSite.cfg file and redo the configuration using the configure script.
If you have existing content you can copy over the twiki/data and twiki/pub from the old TWiki. Watch out, do not copy over the
twiki/data/TWiki,
twiki/pub/TWiki,
twiki/data/Main and
twiki/pub/Main. If you have regsters users and groups in the Main web you can copy those over selectively. Make sure you copy over the
twiki/data/.htpasswd file.
