SID-01106: Notifications/WebChanges not functioning

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.0.1 Perl version: 5.12.2
Category: CategoryMissingFunctionality Server OS: WIN 2008 64x Last update: 14 years ago

I can't seem to figure out why Notifications are not functioning as expected. After adding the following line to the notifications in my Sandbox, and editing multiple topics, no notification is sent/received, there is no error logged. Additionally no email messages are deposited in my inetpub/wwwroot/ email directories.

Additionally strange is that after making many changes to newly created Sandbox topics if I browse to SandBox/WebChangesthere is no record of my edits.

It should be mentioned that user registration email functions as expected, SMTP service is up and running etc

any ideas?

Discussion and Answer

Can anyone point me to the scripts responsible for tracking/recording changes? I'll try to do some critical thinking from there.

Hello. Check the twiki cron file somewhere in /etc/cron.... The Sandbox web might be excluded.

I can't find this /etc/ directory within my C:/Twiki directory... google doesn't help locate it. Is this a Windows vs Unix thing?

I really don't understand how I am able to edit pages on my Twiki, Save them but then the Twiki doesn't list these changes on the ChangeList for the web. Something is not configured correctly - I just don't know what.

I added a windows job to send mail for notifications but until the changes are recorded by Twiki it won't be firing.

Oops, I am sorry, I did not noticed it was windows... No, there is not etc/cron directory in windows. Anyway check if in the windows job the command have a -Sandbox in the end, excluding the web. If so remove it.

Check also that the user that is running the Apache service have rights over the twiki directory.

Thanks for the response Enrique.

The doesn't resolve the problem of Twiki not recognizing Changes; After numerous edits and successful saves, version diffs etc -- TWiki still shows 0 changes in the web change list. This is on multiple webs.

Very frustrating because there doesn't seem to be any error output.

My installation is running on IIS not apache but all of the executing users have access to my Twiki installation. I use authenication pass through from the domain logins. I figure that since these domain users are able to edit topics etc that the permissions exist for Twiki to record their changes.

annoying.

Any idea what scripts are responsible for recording ChangeLists? No doubt I broke something while hammering the installation/paths to achieve a working state. (twiki is such a pain for a noob in A Windows environment!!)
