SID-01299: An odd attachment problem in Twiki 4.2.3 or twiki 5.0.2

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 4.2.3 Perl version: 5.8.8
Category: CategoryAttachments Server OS: RHEL 5 Last update: 14 years ago

In Twiki 4.2.3 ,when I upload a new attachment version via the 'manage' link, with different file name but same type of file, as old attachment (let say test.txt – old attachment file and upload a test_new.txt file). Contents of the new file saved under old name. In attachment, presents only one file and version history showing 2 different versions for one file.

However, when I doing the same in twiki 5.0.2 , attachment always saved under original name and version history showing only one, original version for each file.

So, where really, if at all, bug present ? In 4.2.3.or in 5.0.2? Is this a known problem or even expected behavior?

Thank you

Discussion and Answer

There was a behavioral change. See long discussions at UpdateAttachmentsDontWorkAsExpected and AttachmentLogicFlawed. Feel free to add your comments if you feel the behavior needs to be changed again.
