SID-01370: Implementing indents of subsections in a skin

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.1.0 Perl version: 5.10.0
Category: CategorySkin Server OS: sles11sp1 Last update: 14 years ago

I find the default layout of headings somewhat difficult to read for long documents - H3, for example, has a bold font that makes it hard to tell if it's at a higher, or lower, level than H2.

IndentHeadersAndTextLikeDokuWiki describes a layout I would prefer, even if I could just get subsections to indent, as described there.

As that page is quite a few years old, I was wondering if skins will enable me to achieve this effect?

Running Twiki 5.1.0 and skin currently used is "topmenu, pattern".

Thanks, Matt

Discussion and Answer

You can modify the style of the headings relatively easily: Study twiki/pub/TWiki/PatternSkin/style.css and overload the settings you want. See PatternSkinCssCookbook and PatternSkinCustomization.

TWiki currently does not use divs for sections below headings, e.g. it is not easy to add indentation for subsections. The rendering engine would need to be enhanced to do that. TWiki is an open source project where people take and contribute. You can get involved with the community or hire a TWiki consultant to do that for you.

Thanks, Peter. I think that a custom style.css will suffice in this case.
