SID-01486: Record and show attachment download history

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.1.0 Perl version: 5.012001 (linux)

Hello

Current Situation: I have no way to audit and track which user, from which I.P. downloaded my twiki attachment.

Requirement: Whenever a user downloads an attachment, a record should be added somewhere (with userid and I.P) so that we can later audit the event.

Please suggest me a solution.

Thanks in advance. TM

Discussion and Answer

Secure the attachments, then you will have viewfile entries in the TWiki log file for attachments. See ApacheConfigGenerator. Like this you can examine the log files.

If you want a GUI for the attachment view history you need to create a plugin. See UsageStatisticsPlugin for inspiration.

I invite you to get involved with the TWiki community. As a contributor you can actively make a difference and help shape the product. It is also more likely you get help by the community when you have questions. Learn how to get involved, and see some cool projects you could implement.
