SID-01510: User Name Display in WebChangesRightBox

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.1.1 Perl version: 5.6.1
Category: CategoryRendering Server OS: RedHat Linux 7.5 Last update: 13 years ago

User Names Displayed in the WebChangesRightBox 'Recent Changes' are expanded to show the proper name with a space between the first and last name. If the last names have more than one Capital letter, they are read as WikiWords in the Recent Changes list and displayed with an extra space before the 2nd Cap letter.

Example: Joe McGee, WikiName JoeMcGee is displayed in the Recent Changes as "Joe Mc Gee". Is there a way to prevent last names from being expanded in the Recent Changes Right box? They should be displayed as entered in the User's Page.

Discussion and Answer

For performance reasons the WikiName is used to derive the name instead of querying the first name and last name from the user form. As you noticed, this fails if the last name is an Irish name.

You could fix that by using a conditional %IF{}% that detects if the topic has a UserForm attached to it, and if so, query the "First Name" and "Last Name" field. else space out the topic name.

You could also remove the space-out, e.g. keep the WikiWords as is.
