SID-01624: Configure Problem

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.0.1 Perl version:
Category: CategoryPlugins Server OS: 12.04.01 LTS Last update: 12 years ago

Hello,

I have a problem with the configure tool of my Twiki. My server is Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS and the version of my Twiki is TWiki-5.0.1. When I try to use the configure tooI, I received the following error in my browser:

Failed to load the perl module TWiki::Configure::Load. The module was found at /usr/share/perl5/TWiki/Configure/Load.pm, but I don't have permission to read it.

Please ensure that:

  1. TWiki::Configure::Load is installed,
  2. that the module is available on the @INC path,
  3. that the webserver user (www-data) has permission to read the TWiki/Configure/Load.pm file.
The detailed error seen was: Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at /usr/share/perl5/TWiki/Configure/Load.pm line 89. Compilation failed in require at (eval 29) line 2. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at (eval 29) line 2.

From what I researched in the community, the problem was related to the fact that in perl 5.14, the use of "qw ( )" has been changed to "(qw( ))" inside of foreach loops. I read this in the following link: http://develop.twiki.org/~twiki4/cgi-bin/view/Bugs/Item6800

So I edited the file Load.pm with vi and replaced the following line: foreach my $var qw( DataDir DefaultUrlHost PubUrlPath WorkingDir PubDir TemplateDir ScriptUrlPath LocalesDir ) { with this new line: foreach my $var (qw( DataDir DefaultUrlHost PubUrlPath WorkingDir PubDir TemplateDir ScriptUrlPath LocalesDir )) {

But still the problem is not fixed and now I get the following error message: Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at /usr/share/perl5/TWiki/Configure/Checkers/BasicSanity.pm line 124, <DATA> line 1. Compilation failed in require at (eval 69) line 1, <DATA> line 1. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at (eval 69) line 1, <DATA> line 1.

Can somebody help me with this issue? May thanks in advance.

Discussion and Answer

Even if you fix TWiki/Configure/Load.pm it would not help with the warning because TWiki-5.0.1 uses the qw() in many places. It might be easier to install the latest TWiki-5.1.3.

Note that the deprecation message for qw() is only a warning. Your issue could be something else. Did you check the recommendation?
