SID-01989: unable to create first admin user

I downloaded the TWiki-VM-6.0.1-1.ova vm and am currently running it using Oracle Virtual Box 4.3.18r96516 on a Win7 64bit laptop (assigned 1GB ram, 1 cpu).

I opened do/configure and set the password and set some basic configurations successfully. I then registered myself as a user. I wanted to make my user an admin, so I opened do/configure, put in the configure password, and went to do/view/Main/TWikiAdminGroup. I was trying to follow the instructions in the highlighted section to add your first admin user.

Step 1 says to Authenticate as the internal TWiki administrator and has a link. When I click on the link (internal admin login), it brings me to a login screen with the user "admin" already populated. I put in the password that I use in the do/configure screen. When I click the Logon button, I am brought back to the TWiki Administrator Group page.

Step 2 says to Edit this topic. The only options I have on the bottom are Print version, History, Backlinks, Raw View, and More topic actions. I see the button above that is labeled Edit Group Settings. If I click that one, I get thrown back to the logon page. If I try to put in admin and my configure password, I just get reprompted by the logon page (no error message).

How do I edit the group to add my user as an admin user? Am I missing something? Is there a config I need to change?

Make sure you are actually logged in after step 1. Verify by opening up the "Account" pulldown. It should say "TWiki Admin User". If not you might run into a template log in bug in IE, see Support.SID-01983 and TWikibug:Item7584.

As for step 2, click on the "Edit Group Settings" button just above the "Set GROUP".

Thanks, I am using IE and when I click account, it still shows that I am in as guest. I will apply the patch and see if that fixes it.
