SID-02015: How to improve a plugin functionality without disable/enable

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: 5.1.4 Perl version:
Category: CategoryPlugins Server OS: Last update: 11 years ago

Dear Peter,

I am not sure if this is possible, I would like to improve a certain plugin .pm module. Can I just copy the new version of the module over the previous one ? Or do I really have to use the configure script ? I inherited the system, so I am still very new to TWiki

Your help mostly appreciated

Kind Regards, Oliver

Discussion and Answer

You can enhance a plugin internally and simply copy the .pm files into the proper place. After that make sure not to update the plugin via configure, or you would overwrite your changes. You can set the file permissions to root to prevent that. If you need help you can engage one of the TWikiConsultants.
