SID-02275: ExplicitNumbering - Disabled - not view context

Hi,

Noticed debug.txt was over 14GB full which I had to empty before investigating.

There are a ridiculous number of entries in our debug log with the same line "ExplicitNumbering - Disabled - not view context".

To indicate the scale of the issue. In a period of 30 seconds there were 48 entries so explains the 14GB debug log.

ExplicitNumberingPlugin itself is enabled and used, so am reluctant to just remove the plugin if it maybe simply be an issue with how it is installed / configured.

The debug setting is not on (default), and to ensure this I have explicitly set the level as 0.

I did try turning it on for a short time but given the increase in entries (as expected) turned it back off within the minute.

The plugin itself seems to work.

Does this issue seem familiar to anyone who can shed some light on what "ExplicitNumbering - Disabled - not view context" indicates please?

Would like to resolve as 48 lines of this entry is 30 seconds seems excessive.

Maybe this is not related to the ExplicitNumberingPlugin.

Will just have to manage this for now as I don't really have time to investigate, but if I do find some time will update any findings here.

Hi Seeta,

I don't have this plugin installed but I had a look at the code (/twiki/lib/TWiki/Plugins/ExplicitNumberingPlugin.pm) and found where ExplicitNumbering - Disabled - not view context was being written to your debug log.

If you compare this with the content starting at line 99 you will see the same TWiki function that writes to the debug log however this time it includes the if($debug) which makes it conditional upon the $debug variable. The lack of the if statement means that it will always run the function.

    TWiki::Func::writeDebug(
        'ExplicitNumbering  - Entering common tags handler') if ($debug);

I would suggest modifying the plugin to include the if($debug).
