SID-02419: migrating twiki install to another server

Status: Answered Answered TWiki version: Perl version:
Category: Server OS: Last update: 6 years ago

Looking for a set of procedures to migrate an old version of the twiki:

Currently running version This site is running TWiki version TWiki-5.0.1, Sun, 10 Oct 2010, build 19570, Plugin API version 1.3 On a rhel5 server.

We have built a new rhel7 machine and now need to relocate the twiki over to it.

Is there a good set of procedures that someone can point me to so we can do this migration?

Thank you

Discussion and Answer

There are too many ways to run and customize TWiki, so I am not aware of an automatic tool. But there's guidance:

The general routine is written down in TWikiUpgradeGuide, where TWiki's BackupRestorePlugin can be used for the steps of copying the webs. That plugin is bundled with TWiki in current versions, you'll need to install it on your 5.0.1 if you haven't done that already.

If you are running on Apache, please be aware that the syntax of some directives has changed. The ApacheConfigGenerator covers versions 2.4 and above, so if your old installation had its config generated by that tool, it is easy to create it again for Apache 2.4.
