Question

Given the following headings:

---+!Test1
---+ !Test2
---+! Test3
---+Alt!Test4
---+ Alt!Test5
---+Alt! Test6
---+Alt !Test7
and a %TOC% tag, all the headings render identically in the TOC and topic, except Test2, which renders as "Test2" but appears in the TOC as "!Test2"

A leading exclamation point (as in !Test2) is an escape symbol that gets removed on topic view. See TextFormattingRules. It is not removed from the TOC, which is bug. This has been fixed in the DakarRelease.
