Question

Is there a way to set pages, webs, etc., to be "view by permissions only"? I know this is somewhat counter to the wiki open web philosophy, but the members of the site I've just set up would like to have a "members only" section. This section would have items such as: members lists with addresses and phone numbers, financial details for the organization, etc. The rest of the site could be wide open to the public at large.

Is there a way to have "private" sections in TWiki?

Thanks,

Chris Vogel

Answer

Chris you need to slow down. Most (but not all) of the difficulties you are encountering are in the manual. If you go skim through it methodically from beginning to end rather than just hunting for a particular answer as you encounter questions your overall progress will be much speedier.

this particular question is dealt with in the TWiki.TWikiAccessControl section.

cheers,

Note though that there are substantial problems if you try to prevent the Main web from being read by the TWikiGuest account. Try it: you will not be able to register
