Question
I think the restriction in
WebTopicCreator is overdone, and arbitrary at that. I'm new to TWiki, but I notice that in my own installation I can create "BuildNumber13921" as a topic name in the Sandbox, but cannot create that topic name in one of the webs that I have created. It gets truncated to "BuildNumber". Is it really illegal for a
WikiWord to have digits? I thought that as long as the rest of the word was well-formed, digits are OK. That seems to be what the help topic implies, and I find it particularly odd that the behavior is different between Sandbox and a user-created web. Shouldn't
WebTopicCreator honor the guidelines laid down in the
WikiWord help topic?

I have created a new web in a virgin 4.0.4 and the
WebTopicCreator allows me to make a topic called
HelloWorld1234 as expected.

I think that would be the behaviour for the 04x00x02 version, perhaps something is left from that version at the upgrade, kicking in this web?

Page
TwikiVMDebianStable says that the TWiki itself used there is currently 4.0.1. If so, that would explain this behavior, because this bug (not allowing digits) existed then, true? Or is that page's information wrong?

Yep, that would explain.
You should try upgrading the VM with current release using a standard upgrade procedure.
