Question
Why does
http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki04x01/TWikiSystemRequirements
mention perl 5.005_03 as required minimum perl version, while bin/configure of twiki4.1.1 says, that perl lower than 5.8.0 usually wont run (and yes, I did not manage to resolve the problems occurring on my webhoster supplied perl5.6.1 installation after upgrading from twiki3 to twiki4.1.1, so bin/configure seems to be right).

Your question has been worked on heavily during the last weeks (see
WhatVersionsOfPerlAreSupported). To make it short: Yes, 4.1.1 has problems with Perl 5.6.1. But after several patches by
KennethLavrsen he said:
I have completed testing the combination Apache 1.3.23, RedHat 7.3, Perl 5.6.1. And after very few fixes to the core code, some fixes to the configure suite and some fixes to the unit tests I feel confident to say that 4.1.2 when released will work well on Linuxes with Perl 5.6.1.
So my advice is to simply wait another week or so until TWiki 4.1.2 is out.

Fine, I will try this out, when available.

Kenneth did excellent work on the Perl 5.6.1 support. We expect to release TWiki 4.1.2 by the end of this week.
