Question

I use Workflow plugin and I would like to use the WORKFLOWHISTORY variable. I have put it in the topic I want to put under workflow control, and it works.

Now I would like to change the format of the history. I know I must define the WORKFLOWHISTORYFORMAT varibale but I don't understand where.

I have tried setting this variable in every place I can think of, and I've never gotten it to work - the plugin just always uses the default format. Boo.

WORKFLOWHISTORYFORMAT can be set in WebPreferences, or in the topic. It a standard preference (not a plugin preference) so should not have a WORKFLOWPLUGIN_ prefix, and cannot be set in the plugin topic. Possibly you have it set in in FINALPREFERENCES at some level?

I am having the same problem. After seeing Crawford's suggestion I have tried setting WORKFLOWHISTORYFORMAT in the topic as well as in the WebPreferences (without the WORKFLOWPLUGIN_ prefix) using the syntax of 3 spaces* Set WORKFLOWHISTORYFORMAT = " $state" and still I get the default format. I have checked the FINALPREFERENCES settings of Main.TWikiPreferences, TWiki.TWikiPreferences as well as in the WebPreferences of the web where the topic is. I have also checked the "topic preference settings" under "More Topic Actions" for the topic where I am trying to set and display the history, the template topic of that topic, and the workflow topic of that topic, but nothing is set there. Still I get the default history format. Any suggestions on how to get this to work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As an update...it seems that setting WORKFLOWHISTORYFORMAT in the WebPreferences without the WORKFLOWPLUGIN_ prefix actually did work...sort of. New history information generated after I set the format variable in WebPreferences is displayed with the correct history format...it just doesn't change the format of the history information that already exists.
