Recently this error popped up in our Tracking web:

Quantifier follows nothing in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/? <-- HERE / at /srv/www/twiki/lib/TWiki/Plugins/Xp/Story.pm line 124.

Answer

When I searched for the error message, I found this page: UnfriendlyErrorMsgWithInvalidRegexSearch. Using this knowledge, I looked at line 124 of twiki/lib/TWiki/Plugins/Xp/Story.pm. I found the following:

$all .= $who . " " unless ($all =~ /$who/);

which I changed to:

$all .= $who . " " unless ($all =~ /^.*$who.*$/);

per the notes in UnfriendlyErrorMsgWithInvalidRegexSearch. This resolved the problem.
