First of all what are browser plugins? Usually it is a download software module that adds special features to your browser to play or view an online movie, picture, cartoon, book, etc. You need these to enhance your Internet experience with multimedia types. In fact, many movies, songs, etc will not work in your browser without them. There are several free browser plugins that everyone should have. Below is a list of the more common browser plugins everyone should have if possible and the site where you can download the browser plugins . We will be discussing more about downloading later in this class.

• Adobe Acrobat Reader - is a free browser plugin that allows you read documents in ".pdf" (portable document format). You can download it from this website - http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

• Apple Quick Time - is a free browser plugin that allows you to view quicktime movies. You can download it from this website - http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/.

• Divx - is a free browser plugin that allows you to view Divx compressed movies and may well become the next standard for movie format. You can download it from the following website - http://www.divx.com/divx/index.php.

• Macromedia Flash - is a free browser plugin that allows you to view Macromedia Flash animation files. You can download it from this website - http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/.

• Macromedia Shockwave - is a free browser plugin that allows you to view Macromedia Shockwave movie file formats. You can download it from this website - http://www.macromedia.com/software/shockwaveplayer/.

• RealPlayer - is a free browser plugin that allows you to view Real streaming video and audio file formats. You can download it from this website - http://www.real.com/realoneplayer.html?pp=choice&src=020930r1choice_c1 - be sure to read carefully and choose the free one.
