Folding Test Page 1

20250716: I'm going to make what I think will be major revisions to this page. What I thought was a bug, wasn't, I didn't realize that I had to add $n to the prefix to make the markup start at the beginning of a line. If for some reason you want to see the old page, it will be revision 6 of this page.

20250715: Michael Daum (from Foswiki) showed me how to almost / partially make this work on Foswiki, but which shows a new bug. I'm going to do some more experiments here and see if the same that almost / partially works on Foswiki also works here.

I'm going to try 3 variations of the parameters for a twisty to see which works the best:

  • prefix="$n<h2>" without trailing !!
  • prefix="$n---++ "
  • No prefix, added ---++ to link (i.e."$n---++ A Level 2 Heading (#2) in a twisty")

See:

Level 2 heading (#1) not in a twisty

Trying prefix="$n<h2>" *without trailing *

  • Heading appears in TOC (and not doubled as in Foswiki)
  • but, clicking on the entry in the TOC does not jump to the actual heading
  • and clicking on the heading does not expand the section -- instead, jumps to top of page
  • and the twisty icon does not appear in front of the heading

Folding a list item

Did a little experimenting -- two problems atm:

  1. I haven't found a way to make the item appear as a list item (that is, indented with a bullet in front of it). I tried putting the " * " as a prefix (prefix=) and I tried putting it as the first characters of the link,
  2. I envisioned the first line of a list item as being of variable length to match the current width of the TWiki window, but it looks like it would have to be a fixed length based on where I manual divide the item between the link and the remaining content within the twisty.
  3. (I can't count) I'd also like to be able to have multiple or continuation paragraphs of a list item, indented the same as the list item to which it belongs (indented to where the text starts, not where the bullet or number is).

I don't think I'll make much progress here -- I may let things sit and try to cogitate some.

<some "random" irrelevant text" for testing of folding a (multiline) list item>
