I consider the behavior here (on TWiki) correct. In contrast, on Foswiki, if you use the HTML entity for the less than sign (&lt;) and then edit the page in the WYSIWYG editor, the HTML entity gets ("permanently") converted to a "real" less than sign (<) rather than the HTML entity.

This can create havoc on the page.
