TWiki Marketing Meeting, 01 Oct 2007
"TWiki, the open source wiki for the enterprise."
Attendees
Place & Time
- IRC Server chat.freenode.net, channel
#twiki_marketing
- 01:00 PST, 20:00 GMT, 22:00 CET, 06:00 AEST (Australia)
1. Blogging
- Time: 21:06 – 21:17
- Issue: Spam in blog comments
- Info: Koen has removed 3 spam posts
- Info: Koen has set the Blog web changeable only to TWikiCommunityGroup
- Action: Koen to ensure that comments can still be left on blog (can be done with a pref setting in meta data of template topic, see IRC log for other suggestions)
- Info: Koen had three replies to the newsletter that was sent on the announce list.
- Decision: 3 is a safe number to, effectively, ignore.
- Action: Koen to write to these three explaining what we are doing and their options.
- FixMe: IRC log says: “CommentPlugin update on t.o.” What does this mean?
- FixMe! Does this item still stand? Peter: Update CommentPlugin to latest version
2. Home Page Redesign
- Time: 21:17 – 21:41
- Info: Persona descriptions in WebPageAudience have been vastly expanded. There are now 8 personas.
- Talk: Is 8 is too many? There is overlap between Industry analyst and Journalist, for example. Even so, we can still add personae if really justified.
- Talk: Key Messages – level of detail needed. General consensus – we see how we go and if key messages get a little bit full of detail then we need to split these off into a separate topic.
- Talk: Relative importance of personae. No decision made in meeting. People are invited to comment on this in the WPA topic. Arthur still has final decision.
3. Testimonials
RodBeckstrom not at meeting. Therefore comments from last meeting are kept in minutes so we can discuss next time.
- Contest to create YouTube videos
- Let customers tell their story
- Timeline: Oct or Nov
- Time: 21:41 – 21:49
- Talk: We really need to get more testimonials from users, especially big, newsworthy companies.
- Info: http://www.socialtext.net/wikiwed/index.cgi?bay_area_oct_2007
(kqed is the national public radio in the usa)
- Action: PeterThoeny to try to get a story from KQED
- Action: All in meeting to try and get similar stories from other TWiki users.
- Talk: Video may be a more effective way of getting testimonials from these companies. (It saves their time and generates more impact on the web site.)
4. TWiki.org Performance
Not really discussed at meeting so old minutes preserved here for next time:
- Servers have been ordered, not yet arrived at ISP (Plug and Play Tech Center)
- Sys admin done by 2-3 people, in Europe and USA
- TWiki system setup exactly like documented (except for base URL)
5. Press Releases
- Time: 21:50 – 21:55
- Info: MichaelCorbett will take 2 stage approach to writing press release. Stage 1 – list notable points re 4.2 on the press release page in bullet point form, people can comment. Once comments received, the bullets will be refactored into a proper press release.
- Info: Overall theme of press release will be “TWiki takes off its anorak” or (for people who don’t know anything about anoraks) “TWiki moves from nerd to normal”.
- Talk: Lots of people had their own opinions about anoraks, none of them printable here.
- Info: Nokia have come up with a nice quote suitable for the press release.
- Action: PeterThoeny to see if we can use it.
7. Usability
- Time: 21:55 – 22:06
- FixMe Carlo, please add to these minutes if there was something I missed.
- FixMe IRC log says: “ any lessons to derive from TWikiUsabilityTestingAt* ?” Anyone care to elaborate on this meaning?
8. Merchandising
- Not discussed at meeting, may be best to defer this meeting topic until 4.2 has been released.
