The new release focuses on improvements to installation, administration and programmability but also adds a completely new WYSIWYG editor which looks set to take the popular enterprise wiki into wider markets. TWiki contributor Crawford Currie of C-Dot, a UK based TWiki consultancy says, "The new WYSIWYG editor has been enthusiastically taken up by a wide range of users, even those outside TWiki's traditional IT and engineering user bases. This new feature will considerably widen TWiki’s appeal.”

• Improved login name/wiki name mapping to enable easier integration with external authentication mechanisms (e.g. LDAP)

An application wiki is a wiki that provides workflow, scripting and structured data which allows users to create custom applications for themselves to address a variety of commonly occurring business problems. These applications can be developed by end users without needing expensive IT resources or support. Wiki applications are developed for a wide variety of uses such as project trackers, inventory systems, quality management systems, sales lead trackers or publishing/editorial systems. Application wikis can also act as portals, community blogs or news feed aggregators, areas that are often thought to be outside the scope of ordinary wikis.
