Ext3 is one of the journaling file systems available to use under Linux.
Some of the journaling file systems only deal with meta data and others handle meta data as well as actual data. From my limited knowledge, it would seem that if you want a journaling file system to be able to recover from power outages and the like, it must journal both meta actual data.
