Just starting a page to try to keep some sort of record of HOWTOs I have read (or skimmed) starting recently (24 Feb 2003).

Notes
- Tried reading some early on -- I guess the thing that somebody recently suggested to me applies, something like "the brain works better as a treasure hunter than a vacuum cleaner".
- Some HOWTOs that I read early on were helpful -- I'm thinking of one or a few from Red Hat -- maybe on setting up a network, or printer, or something like that.
- The Linux Partition HOWTO
-- being read in conjunction with and after HOWTOs for parted and some similar stuff. Chapter 6
addresses recovering a deleted partition and some calculations on converting cylinders to blocks or vice versa given heads, bytes per sector, etc. (A cluster varies in size and is the minimum unit of space allocated to a file in filesystems like FAT (12, 16, and 32) and ext2, for example -- or wait -- is a block the same as a cluster? See http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/mini/Partition/formating.html
.)
