Unlocking the Screen

The iRulu has several methods of locking the screen so that others cannot view or change your data. These include:

• Slide Lock
• Gesture (is that the term they use?)
• PIN or password

The Slide Lock

The "Slide Lock" is the default lock used on the iRulu.

To unlock the iRulu:

• put your finger on the (closed) lock in a small circle that you see on the right side of the screen
• the small circle will expand to a fairly big circle,
• on the right of that fairly big circle you will see an open lock in a smaller circle, and to the left of that fairly big circle you will see a camera in a smaller circle
• drag the closed lock towards either of the small circles
• at some point, the circle toward which you are dragging the lock will become highlighted
• drop the lock on the highlighted circle
  • if you drop it on the open lock, the system will be unlocked
  • if you drop it on the camera, the camera(s) will be enabled (but the system will otherwise remain locked)
  • if you drag the closed lock outside the big circle and drop it with neither small circle highlighted, the camera(s) will be enabled (but the system will otherwise remain locked)

Mistakes

When I first got the iRulu and powered it up, I hadn't read anything about how to unlock the system, but I had seen other people use their fingers to drag icons on things like smartphones.

So, while experimenting:

• at some times, I simply touched the digital clock icon on the left side of the screen and dragged it to the right. A fairly large + sign appeared. If I pressed the + sign, the system was unlocked. (Is that a bug?)
• at some other times, I dragged the closed lock outside the circle expanded circle without paying attention to highlighting one of the smaller circles. Every time I did that, the cameras were enabled but the system remained locked.
