To record a command line session, run the command
script. This will record everything that occurs, with certain limitations and some oddities, in, by default, the file
typescript. I think there are some alternative ways of doing this that resolve some of those oddities.
See man script.
One oddity is that it records some keystrokes as the
ASCII character code (or something like that) -- well actually the first thing I notice is a lot of <Esc> characters, and I guess it records all the line ends and similar.
One alternate (especially if you are using kde) is to do the command line session under konsole and then copy and paste from the scrolling "history". This resolves the
ASCII character code business, but does not record the results of certain commands like man, less, etc. (Maybe because they are run as subshells??)
