This is a summary of TWiki (wiki) capabilities:
- Allows anyone to quickly make web pages (less than 1 minute), which other people can edit just as quickly (if not restricted by an authorization scheme)
- Web pages can include sketches, graphics, tables, included pages, automatic tables of content, hyperlinks (internal and external, simple and complex), attachments, and more ...
- Lists of all pages (the index) and recently changed pages are available
- Easy to find backreferences (which pages link to the current page)
- Content is under revision control
- Each page can be organized in thread or document mode
- Pages can be hierarchical to a certain extent (TWiki and a few others, only -- TWiki is divided into webs)
- Automatic email notification of changes
- Is indexed by Internet search engines like Google
Which allows TWikis (wikis) to do the following:
- Replace a mail list, web forum, or web log.
- Serve as a group or personal notepad, knowledgebase, or free format database
- Support project teams and projects
- Provide a collaborative environment for writing books, manuals, programs
