You can publish your search-engine by an link-tag in the Siteheader.
The new Search-Engine will be available on the "SearchEngine-Manager"

will this be transmitted/installed each time a topic is loaded? Please feel free to add your installation instruction to FirefoxTWikiSearchBoxAddOn

The first time you chose the engine,the file will be installed.
As if you copy the file in the directory "searchplugins".
As an example: http://support.microsoft.com/

This add-on should be packaged as FirefoxTWikiSearchBoxAddOn.zip so that the download links function properly. Right now you get a file not found message when you click on the download link in AddOnPackage and other query pages.
