Here's the first guide I've seen for burning a DVD (in Linux): DVD Authoring; by Chris Stoddard -- apparently it focuses on burning an AVI to a DVD, so I guess that is not quite a "standard" DVD. I was surprised to see that the file is apparenently ISO9660, just like a CD.
