Collecting resources on Xim which might let me do my
KeyboardMacrosInLinux thing. Suggested by Raphael Finkel, it might require some programming as it seems to be a programming method rather than a user product. (My first impression.) Raphael plans to send me some C code which might serve as an example.

- (rhk) Part of an X manual on SuSe
; ; - This is pretty nice especially as an overview of some possibilities. Breeze through it to see how input is converted to chinese, etc. in gvim, and then breeze on through to the similar stuff in kde. I don't want to convert to chinese, but I think much of the information is applicable to converting a single character to a (long) string of characters. Other tidbits -- xim can work with xterm (xterm -xim) and rxvt (and similar?).
- (rhk) (Mozilla) Input Method Editing Styles
-- linked from above, but still looks like a good simple introduction -- in fact, even better than the above to get a quick overview of how this would work from the user POV
- (rhk) XWindow-User-HOWTO
may be slightly OT, but looks worth reading (haven't done so far)
