Development Discussions for GetAWebAddOn
TODO
- For offline reading it would be better to fully render all the pages to html before zipping.
- The GenHTMLAddon has all the support you need for static rendering of a web. In fact, it's so obvious I wonder why none of us thought to put these two together before! -- CrawfordCurrie - 28 Jun 2002
- now, there's also PublishAddOn, which came from GenHTMLAddon, though both have some bugs to be worked out -- WillNorris - 11 Oct 2004

Discussion
This is a useful extension. I will wait with placing it into the TWiki distribution until we have Admin acccess restrictions.

How about using
CPAN:Archive and
CPAN:Compress modules rather than system calls?
--

version 0.95 uses CPAN:Archive::Tar instead of calling tar
directly. note, at this point, only .tar
is now supported.

I did some doc work on the Add-on topic.
--
PeterThoeny - 12 Oct 2004
I added a SHORTDESCRIPTION to the "Add-On Info" section so that this add-on is represented properly in the
AddOnPackage topic and query topics. Please feel free to take this into the next release.

We installed this Add-On yesterday in order to generate backups of our wiki. We recognized that the date of the zipped files is wrong (1/1/1601 00:01). Do you know how that error could happen? Is it a already known bug? What can we do to get the right date if it is not a bug?

on my quick test the tar ball's dates are correct - I've updated the addon to work on twiki 4.2, but I think I've also made a replacement
GetAWebPlugin, that respects TWiki
VIEW
permission settings.
