Feedback on WorkflowReportsContrib

-- PaulHoesli - 08 Oct 2006

Gruezi Paul, and thank you for sharing this extension with the TWikiCommunity. When do you plan to publish the package?

-- PeterThoeny - 09 Oct 2006

Hi Peter, one more week until beta release day. Pending: Build support, Unit::Tests, Peer Review and SVN check in.

-- PaulHoesli - 22 Oct 2006

After much struggling with my VM/WinXP/Cygwin/Apache/Twiki etc. development configuration, I just uploaded release zero.nine.seven.

It's based on a SVN-Checkout, BuildContrib. Test-Framework is created but no tests so far. SVN-Check in is pending (see PaulHoesliWouldLikeToCheckIn).

Please feel free to comment on the features/design/implementation.

The current release is on pre-validation status, and will receive some rework until mid december. Production release one.zero will be released before the end of 2006.

Thanks Paul for releasing the first version, in line with the open source concept of "releasing early and often". I made some minor changes to the contrib topic, please feel free to take this back into the next release.

Why don't we merge this into the WorkflowPlugin, rather than requiring a separate installation? Is there anything in the code that one would have to be concerned about?

-- ThomasWeigert - 05 Nov 2006

First question: actually this is what I hope will happen later on. It's just my lack of knowledge how to do such a merger. On the other hand I'm used to develop incrementally until it's proven / stable. I can see that we need a major refactoring to produce separate reports for different workflows.

Second question: Because I did not do any test cases so far, I assume there are still some things to be concerned about in that code. The package itself just replaces topic content, which can be recovered through the revision history if anything goes wrong. What I'm more concerned about is hardening the application interfaces, and edge / corner cases.

If anybody could review the code, and give me some advice, It would help me a great deal.

Support.SID-00719 reports an writePageHeader error with workaround fix.
