Question

I've set the TwikiVariable ALLOWTOPICCHANGE to the user I want to edit the topic. First I tried with only the WikiName and then with the format Main.WikiName. In both cases I got the same response: "Change Access Denied". I'm using basic authentication. I mean, I'm using the file .htpasswd . and I logged as the user I put on the ALLOWTOPICCHANGE variable. Do you think I'm doing something wrong?

Answer

What topic do you try to edit? Read EditingTWikiPreferences if it is the TWikiPreferences topic. Can you create new topics? When you create a new topic you will see your username in the signature.

I'm trying to edit, for example, my personal TWiki page. Set the variable ALLOWTOPICCHANGE in that page to my WikiName and now I can't edit it. And, yes, = ) I can create new topics, and the username in the signature is the same I set in ALLOWTOPICCHANGE.

Another related issue is that suspiciously TWikiAdminGroup is not working. For example, I've set this variable (ALLOWTOPICCHANGE) to TWikiAdminGroup in the TWikiPreferences topic and anyone who is NOT in this group can edit this topic...
Only when I set this variable to an specific user is when "Change Access Denied" shows up. The problem is that not even the user specified in this variable can change the topic. Funny, isn't it?
