Question

I have experienced a problem with logging in where Firefox 2.0.0.8 will not login to the server. It just returns to the original screen. I have cleared browser cache and cookie to no avail. There is no such problem with Opera or IE7 or IE6. It was working at one point then overnight it stopped? v.strange

I have noticed this problem when checking the checkbox "Remember me". But other could not reproduce this...

-- ArthurClemens - 26 Apr 2008

I changed the login template to set the box as checked by default and experienced the problem for about 2 days. then it disappeared and is working ok now. very odd. monitoring the situation and will keep you posted.

Well it's gone again. I cannot connect to ANY twiki site with Firefox. It just keeps returning to the login screen. If I click the "remember me" box then I am returned to the Web Home but not logged in. Anyone else seen this behaviour. As I said before Opera, IE6 and 7 work fine.

Cleared Cache and cookies then logged in OK only if "remember me" was not selected. Clicked "remember me" to take advantage of 1 hour session then log in fails. Still failing now and impossible to recover.

That would point to a problem with your Firefox installation. You can check what Firefox is trying to "remember" in the preferences menu, section "Advanced" (or so I guess - my Firefox has German entries). You could try to delete saved passwords instead of cookies. Maybe for whatever reason you don't have write access to your Firefox profile data?

Also check your windows application event log, perhaps Firefox leaves some hints there.

Thanks Harald - I did a "quick" reload of Windows 2000 complete today and the problem has gone away... along with a set of icons I created the other day. Perhaps this is one for the InfrequentlyAskedQuestions? smile Thanks again all.

I'm having the same problems with FF. I've just posted some investigation results to Bugs:item4782. Don't know where to go from here. I'm changing the status back to AskedQuestions.
