Question

"RCS: failed to create file /twiki/data/Main/WebHome.txt: Permission denied"

I installed everything according to the WindowsInstallCookbook, and brought up TWiki so I could view the main page. I clicked the Edit tab, and typed in something and hit Save. This error popped up:

Environment

TWiki plugins: DefaultPlugin, EmptyPlugin, InterwikiPlugin
Server OS: WinXP?
Web server: Apache 2.2
Perl version: 5.87
Client OS: WinXP?
Web Browser: IE6
Categories: Installation, Version control

Answer

ALERT! If you answer a question - or have a question you asked answered by someone - please remember to edit the page and set the status to answered. The status is in a drop-down list below the edit box.

Since Windows XP servers don't support file permissions, this sounds very suspect. You don't say if you are using the sygwin versions of RCS or not. If you are not using cygwin, I suspect that path isn't going to work (/twiki.....).

Personally I never use RcsWrap? on RcsLite? works just fine, and is much simpler to get working.

No further feedback from questioner, so closing unanswered.

I don't know if there's any way to reopen this but this person is on the same set up and getting the exact same problem.
