Hi,
I am sending this email because you requested the TWiki
source in the past and asked to be notified of new
releases. (Please drop me a line if you do not wish to
receive further TWiki announcements.)
A new TWiki version is available: Production release
01 Sep 1999. You can request the new version at
http://www.mindspring.com/~peterthoeny/twiki/ .
Changes since the last production release (01 Jul 1999)
- New text formatting rule for creating tables. Text gets rendered as an HTML table if enclosed in "|" vertical bars. Example table:
| This | is | a table |
| with | some | cells |
- Fixed a Y2K? bug. (Date in year 2000 had wrong format.)
- Search path for include files in %INCLUDE:"file.inc"% variable. Search first in the current web, then in parent data directory. Useful to overload default include text in the data directory by web-specific text, like for example webcopyright.inc text.
- Flags $doLogTopic* in wikicfg.pm to selectively log topic view, edit, save, rdiff, attach, search and changes to monthly log file.

Update procedure from the 01 Jul 1999 version:
Note: This assumes that you did not make any changes
to TWiki scripts or templates besides wikicfg.pm.
- Unzip the new release to a temporary directory.
- Manually merge the old and new twiki/bin/wikicfg.pm file. Use the new file as the base and copy the values from the old file over to the new file.
- Update (overwrite) all remaining script files in the twiki/bin directory.
- Move debug.txt from twiki/bin to twiki/bin/data.
- Update (overwrite) all templates files in the twiki/bin/template directory.
Note: With the new release it is possible to move the
data and templates directory to a place that is not
accessible as a URL, i.e. /var/twiki/data or
~/not_public/twiki/data
