Question
. In experimenting with the parent feature I found that parent topics named with a single word (like "Google") do not display as links. See the parents listed currently on
GoogleSearchTipsCondensed.
I'd like to suggest that the parent feature use, in essence, the "square bracket" syntax to display parents. This would have two advantages:
- Topics with single word names would be displayed as links (they aren't now)
- All links would be displayed in the web.topic format (Wikilearn.GoogleSearchTipsCondensed), which, to me, is more helpful as it indicates that a page is in a different web.
I suspect that my attempt to assign a single word topic as a parent ran into a feature

that resulted in allowing me to assign two parents to the topic. (When I tried assigning a third parent, it replaced the second parent, which makes me assume that the intent is to allow only one parent and the behavior I ran into is not intended. Update: I just confirmed this by testing over on the Test web.)

Answer
I'm glad you see allowing single words as topics to be a requirement!
I have suggested that we make the mods John and I suggested on
SingletonWikiWord a standard feature. The syntax
.Ontology already works, my suggestion is to make standard the syntax .Ontology to point to a
SingletonWikiWord, hence not requiring the square brackets. The advantage of this mod over your suggestion is that this way Wiki retains its simplicity, as the same markup rules would apply everywhere.
