With so many dangers involved in downloading from the Internet - why bother?

Well, it is pretty much the same as driving your car. There is a lot of danger involved in driving your car, so why do you do drive? You drive simply because the advantages outweigh the dangers for many people. It is the same for downloading multimedia and computer programs.

One main advantage is that downloading is easy and convenient to do. Instead of getting in your car, fighting traffic, finding the computer program you need, waiting in line to buy it (and you know you always get in the line that the person in front of you can't find that penny at the bottom of her purse), you can download it from the Internet while you do something else like laundry or writing out bills, or watching the football game, eating supper, etc.

Another main advantage is that you can download lots of programs and files for free. Why pay for a program if you can get one for free?

Yet another advantage is that you have access to such a vast resource, not just a couple of computer stores around where you live.

Still another advantage is the many different types of programs to download. Many music groups, who are trying to make it to the top, offer their music for free downloads. The same goes for would be producers who have many short movies, cartoons, etc. There are also many programs that you can download and add to your handheld palm device. There are fun games and all sorts of utilities to make your time on the computer more productive.

Another advantage is that you can download updates for the programs you have on your system to enhance their performance. We will talk more about updates later as well.

With the proper knowledge and utility programs installed and running on your system - you have left only the download advantages, making your computer more fun than TV.
