Some resources for devfs which, IIUC, is the file system used to make devices look like files in Linux. Also, I think it involves autodetecting of devices in some cases. Perhaps related to the two things in Linux that attempt to detect hardware changes, kudzu, and (IIRC) something like "ltdetect" (???).
