The intent was to show postfix in more detail, including the various daemons and where they move mail from and to, and maybe the various databases that contain aliases, forwarding addresses, or whatever.

I've put this on the back burner because I've found other resources:

  • The html documentation that comes with Postfix. I don't know if it's available on the Internet -- on my system it starts at file:/usr/share/doc/postfix-20010228/html/index.html. It includes a useful block diagram -- maybe not in the exact format I would prefer, but useful enough, I think. (I would show port 25 on the diagram, but I think I figured out where that is anyway.)
  • I think much of the information I still need is in sections 9.1 and 9.2 of the Red Hat Postfix HOWTO -- I'm just not sure I can pick it out yet.
