filesystem: As I see it now, "filesystem" has two related meanings in a Linux system:
- It is the general name applied to the organization and layout of files on the disk, starting with / and continuing through /usr, /var, /home and so on, including lower levels.
- It is the name of a filesystem type that can be installed at any mount point? of the filesystem. Among the filesystem types are:
- Linux standard (ext2, 83)
- Linux swap (82)
- Various journaling file system? s, like:
- Others
