Recording notes about how I configured kmail 1.5 (on a Mandrake 9.1 system) so that I can transfer the configuration to other systems.

In any case, one of the first steps is to install the freely distibutable Microsoft True Type Fonts — see <later>.

Non kmail specific

Because of the way I have email set up on my home network (all members of my family share one email address, procmail on the mail server distributes mail based on a name in the To: in addition to the email address (or other clues), but that doesn't work in all cases, I sometimes have to manually sort mail), I want to have all four imap accounts (dad (until renamed to rhk in next iteration of mail server on system8), rhkmail (outgoing), alex, and ruth) set up on the systems I use for mail.

Settings -> Configure KMail

Message Body: Courier, Regular, 19 (but the actual font size in the message body is not 19 pts, nor as large as the preview on this dialog) (and also for things like Qouted Text, 1st Level, etc.) Message List: Helvetica, Regular, 10 (and for most other things unless specified above or below) Fixed Width Font: Monospace, Regular, 13
Bitstream Charter, Regular, 14 (might do better) Printing Output: Sans, Regular, 10 (might do better) Other tabs: not recorded, no changes made, deal with later (lazy)

word wrap at column 72, smart quoting
Change "you" to %F for reply to sender

do not check "Prefer HTML to plain text", do not check "allow ... external references from the Internet", should set other things but have not
