I've seen a (standard recordable) CD with 6 feature length movies on it (video and all). Resolution is not great, and I got a headache watching about 40 minutes of one of the movies (fuzzy images), but it's rather impressive. Here are some sources of information on how it can be done. I guess one of the technologies (programs??) is called vcd.
