TWiki Upgrade to TWiki-6.0 - Supplemental Information

The upgrade guide that shipped with TWiki-6.0 is at TWikiUpgradeGuide. This topic contains post-release extra information on upgrading to TWiki-6.0. It is also designed to capture user experiences. Please feel free to add constructive comments here that may help other people when upgrading.

Important Changes since TWiki-6.0.0

The "Important Changes since TWiki-6.0.0" section is missing in the TWikiUpgradeGuide of the TWiki-6.0.0 release. It has been updated on TWiki.org and will be available in TWiki-6.0.1. For now please see the release notes in your installation at TWikiReleaseNotes06x00.

Upgrade Option

TWiki now has options to backup, restore, and upgrade a TWiki site:

  • Manually using the TWikiUpgradeGuide.
  • Automated using the pre-installed BackupRestorePlugin. The plugin can be used via a browser and on the command line. The plugin can be installed in TWiki-5.0 and older releases as ancient as TWiki-2001-09-01 (Athens Release) to easily create a backup that can be restored on a new TWiki release. This offers an easy upgrade path for TWiki.
